Stormzy swapped arena-filled crowds for a one-of-a-kind, warehouse gig with a private and small audience of lucky fans.
LIVERPOOL, England, Oct. 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockstar Energy Drink®, alongside British rapper and singer-songwriter Stormzy, ignited Liverpool tonight with a private concert held in the heart of the city for an exclusive audience of just 500 fans. The gig, hosted at Camp and Furnace, was part of Rockstar Energy Drink's new 'Press Play' brand platform, which celebrates the pivotal moment between work and play, encouraging people to embrace their passions.
Following the premiere of the Press Play virtual gig on Spotify® with Stormzy in July, the live gig was the latest music initiative from the energy drinks brand. With a specially curated set list of Stormzy's biggest hits, the performance equipped the audience with the energy to switch from work to play, and embrace the night ahead. The dynamic show, combined with an eclectic events space in the heart of Liverpool, created an unparalleled atmosphere for Stormzy and Rockstar Energy drink fans.
Headline Artist, Stormzy, commented: "Connecting with my audience on such a personal and intimate level tonight was a privilege and I'm grateful to Rockstar Energy for being a key partner in bringing these moments to life."
With Rockstar Energy offering only 500 tickets to the gig, the performance granted some of Stormzy's most dedicated supporters the opportunity to enjoy a medley of their favourite songs such as 'Big For Your Boots', as well as some of his chart-topping hits, including 'Vossi Bop' up-close and personal, in an exclusive setting.
Lucky concertgoers gained access to the event through a nationwide competition, which saw fans unlocking new tickets by purchasing Rockstar Energy Drink cans and entering online via the brand's website. Select guests had the opportunity to meet the hitmaker himself, further motivating them to pursue the things they love with the excitement needed to do so.
Bart LaCount, Vice President of International Beverages Marketing at PepsiCo, said: "Rockstar Energy is all about supplying the boost needed to be your best self and do the things you love. Following the launch earlier this year of our new brand platform 'Press Play', our ambition has been to help people say yes to the things they love to do. Stormzy, through his energetic performances and contagious spirit perfectly embodies the 'Press Play' mentality, encouraging music lovers to 'Press Play' on their passions. This has not only been showcased through tonight's Liverpool performance but also through the success of our digital concert earlier this year."
The exclusive Liverpool gig formed the second instalment of Rockstar's partnership with Stormzy, following the explosive launch of a vibrant in-app digital concert experience this summer. The ground-breaking event saw the multi-award-winning star enter five virtual worlds inspired by themes of gaming, neon-lit nightscapes, colourful backdrops, and supernatural worlds through motion-capture technology.
